Criminal Defense Attorney Ryan G. Usher joined the Johnson Law Firm, P.C. team in October, 2022. Prior to joining the Firm, Ryan worked as an attorney with the Spokane County Public Defender's Office. While working as a Public Defender, he was also the shop steward for Teamsters Local No. 690, the bargaining unit for the office. This allowed him to sometimes indulge in another area of law which he enjoys: Labor Law. In addition to Criminal Law and Labor Law, Ryan is also knowledgeable in the areas of Employment Law, Federal Indian Law, Landlord/Tenant Law, Remedies Law, and Trademark Law.
Ryan was born and raised in Spokane, as the middle child with a younger brother and older sister (which may explain quite a lot). After graduating from Shadle Park High School in 2000, Ryan spent most of his twenties attempting to live a bohemian lifestyle, moving around between Austin, TX, Seattle, and Spokane.
Ryan first attended Spokane Falls Community College, getting his Associate's degree in 2008 before being accepted to the University of Washington where he studied Biochemistry, Japanese, Psychology, and majoring in Philosophy. He then departed, once more, for Austin, TX where he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, then for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. This work and his own life experiences are what eventually spurred him to apply for law school. Ryan attended Seattle University's School of Law, graduating in 2019.
Ryan is a proud member of the National Lawyers Guild, and acts as a legal observer when he is able. He is currently licensed to practice law in the State of Washington and is working towards being admitted to practice law in Scotland as a solicitor.
Ryan spends most of his free time with his beautiful wife and their two children.
